6th Annual Benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
C.O.R.E. THE CENTER OF FITNESS IN CLOSTER, NJ
This year C.O.R.E. the Center of Fitness held its 6th Annual “Sweat for a Cure” event on May 7, 2011. This annual benefit gives one hundred percent of all proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The highly anticipated event featured indoor and outdoor activities, local vendors, and a visit from famed baseball player, Dwight “Doc” Gooden.
Through donations, membership promotions and interactive events, C.O.R.E. was able to raise $40,000 this year for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Legendary pitcher Doc Gooden had children and adults lining up to make a donation to St. Jude in return for a picture and an autograph. C.O.R.E.’s indoor classes such as the spin-a-thon, dance-a-thon and PILOXING were filled to capacity and many local vendors came out to support the cause. We would like to give a special thanks to the Town of Closter,
Closter Starbucks, Butterworth’s Bagels of Old Tappan and A&P of Old Tappan for donating food and drinks to everyone who participated in our event.
To date, C.O.R.E. has raised a total of $174,250.00 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This amount exceeds that of many fitness centers with multiple locations around the country. With the help of fundraisers like “Sweat for a Cure”, St. Jude is able to provide patient care, research and educational programs to thousands of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases each year. With this year’s donation from C.O.R.E., one child is able to receive an above-the-knee prosthetic. C.O.R.E. makes it their personal mission to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital “never stop trying to find cures so that no child will die in the dawn of life”.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has named C.O.R.E. the Center of Fitness as one of the top donors in the last twenty years. C.O.R.E. would like to thank everyone who contributed to this successful event.
